How We Calculate Your WPM and Accuracy
WPM (Words Per Minute) is calculated using the standard formula: the number of correct characters typed divided by 5, then divided by the elapsed time in minutes. We use this universally accepted method so your score is comparable to results from any other typing test. A "word" is standardized to 5 characters including spaces.
Accuracy is the ratio of correct keystrokes to total keystrokes, expressed as a percentage. If you type 200 characters and 180 are correct, your accuracy is 90%. The test tracks every keystroke — including backspaces — so your accuracy reflects your real-world typing precision.
Your keyboard heatmap shows which keys you mistype most often. Green keys have few errors; red keys need practice. This targeted feedback helps you focus your improvement on the specific keys that slow you down, rather than practicing blindly.
